Born and raised on [[https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Bajor|Bajor]] during the [[https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Occupation_of_Bajor|Occupation of Bajor]], his family managed to have him smuggled off-world to a Bajoran refugee camp before he was old enough to join the [[https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Bajoran_Resistance|Bajoran Resistance]] movement. He saw joining Starfleet as a way to help people that most needed it. Served with distinction during the [[https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Dominion_War|Dominion War]]. Crew member of the [[:technology:starships:uss_malta|USS Malta]] when they encountered the energy based residents of the [[:locations:nebulae:dulteb|Dulteb Nebula]].
